GAMMON FINAL @ TREVOSE 15th September 2013

Perranporth Ladies Gammon Team played against St Enodoc in a very wet and windy final at Trevose. The start was bought forward to try and get as much played in the dry as possible. Unfortunately the rain started and the wind strengthened and it was truly not nice at all. The golf however did not seem to suffer and the Perranporth Ladies got off to a good start. Some  of the matches were very close others no so close but all keenly contested with fight backs on both sides.  Ultimately it came down to two matches going and the score 3 wins  to Perranporth and 2 wins to St Enodoc.  Fiona having been pegged back by Sarah Sandercock from 2 up to all square on the 17th tee. They halved the 17th and set off up the 18th. Sarah was on the green quite close in four and Fiona chipped up onto the green for three. With the longer put Fiona played first and sank her put to win the hole and the match for Perranporth. The match now decided Lauren one down on the 18th tee with Bev Vann, they shook hands and she conceded the hole  to Bev .

Overall the result was Perranporth 4 and St Enodoc 3

Jan Sargeant played Kathy Biddle and won 7 & 6

Nikki Hodge played Jean Tatam and won 3 & 2

Fiona Telfer Brunton played Sarah Sandercock and won 1 Up

Jo Rysdale played Sue Ofield and lost 4 & 2

Sara Taylor played Meg Godfrey and lost 4& 2

Lauren Hulston played Bev Vann and lost 2 Down

Vicky Lee Comyn played Trudie Tensjo and won 7 & 6

Thanks to the caddies Mandy, Vera, Sarah, Richard, Karen, Jane and Debbie.

It was great to see so many spectators not just from Perranporth and St Enodoc who braved the really horrible weather. The halfway house was kept very busy with teas, coffees and bacon rolls enjoyed by many supporters and even a few players and  and provided a welcome moment of shelter for some  from the rain and wind .
