23 Teams of 3 played in the International Smurf Day at Perranporth Golf Club Ladies Open. The format was 1 score to count on par 3’s, 2 scores on par 4’s and all scores on par 5’s. Everyone was blessed with very good sunny weather and almost everyone embraced the Smurf theme to some extent, some more than others. A very fetching team from St Austell sported glittery tutu’s but were beaten into 2nd place by the the winners of the best dressed Smurf team, the Farmer Smurf team from Falmouth Mo Hammond, Carmel Conners and Donna Craig.
There was a prize for the team with the best score on par 5’s which was won by the Smurfettes Daniele Price, Victoria Pawley and Nicola Oddy.
The prize for the best par 4’s was won by the Grouchy Smurfs team of Sarah Shobrook, Pauline Windscheffel and Mel Byrne.
The prize for par 3’s was won by the Vanity Smurfs team of Carol Ryder, Liz Plechowitz and Pat McMicheal.
The best visitors team was the Dreamy Smurfs, Alison Gessey, Caz Hardman and Mandy Dennison with 74 points.
In 4th place was the Greedy Smurfs Mandy Wright, Sue Carveth and Karen Greenwood with 77 points
In 3rd place on countback was the Painter Smurfs Angie Chapman and two of the Royal Navy team playing Becky Brown and Jacqueline Clink with 78 points.
In 2nd place was the Baker Smurf team of Bev Vann, Sue Roworth and Susanne Courtney also with 78 points.
In 1st place and winning the Open Day Cup was the (obviously not so) Clumsy Smurf team of Jan Sargeant, Nikki Hodge and Cheryl Jose with 84 points.
The raffle raised £258 for the Lady Captains Charity, The British Red Cross.
Thanks to the starters and everyone that helped the day to run very smoothly.
